Ballard Spahr is seeking a IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) to bridge the gap between our IT department and business units. In this pivotal role, you will cultivate strong partnerships, align IT initiatives with organizational goals, and drive maximum value from our technology investments. Your expertise will shape our strategy, prioritize projects, and evolve BRM functions across the firm. This position is remote, and consideration will be given to those near the Philadelphia office or surrounding areas, with the expectation to work in the office as needed.

Your Role:

As an IT Business Relationship Manager within our Information Technology Team, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with business unit leaders, department heads, and key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for IT-related inquiries, requests, and escalations from assigned business units.

  • Facilitating communication between business stakeholders and IT teams to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and expectations.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their goals, pain points, and requirements, and translating them into IT strategies and solutions.

  • Conducting business process analysis and improvement.

  • Advocating for business requirements in IT project planning and implementation.

  • Promoting awareness of IT services, tools, and innovations that can enhance legal workflows and client service.

  • Continuously assessing the business impact of IT initiatives and gathering feedback for improvement.

  • Coordinating with project managers, solution architects, and technical teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Contributing to IT strategic planning by providing business insights and requirements.

What We're Looking For:

Required Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. 5 + years of IT experience, with at least 2 years of BRM, business analyst or stakeholder-facing experience. Prior experience working in a law firm or legal environment isstrongly preferred. 5+ years of experience working with Project Management Organizations (PMOs) along with a solid understanding of legal-specific technologies (e.g., document management systems like iManage/NetDocuments, e-discovery tools, time & billing systems). Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.). Experience with providing leadership and coordination for others with BRM responsibilities.
