POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Operations Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic supporting Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City, OK. The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic repairs machinery or mechanical equipment and examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble. Should be skilled and proficient in the usage of vibration analysis equipment, machine temperature measurement equipment, laser alignment equipment and machinery seismic measurement equipment.



  • Inspections and assessments of rotating equipment, reporting those conditions to the AT and performing the lubrication, balancing and alignment work requests issued by the AT.
  • Gather data (such as vibration routes), perform belt alignment checks: Assist in installation of remote data stations for on-line vibration analysis: Perform laser alignment of rotating equipment such as fan blowers and gearboxes; Verify level and align existing and new RPIE; Correct mechanical RPIE problems identified by the PdM lab.
  • Conduct oil sampling. (Note: utilize 76 MXSS oil lab for testing and analyses. Oil lab equipment and lab resources can be shared to reduce overhead cost); Assist in laser alignment of RPIE, research manufacturers' recommendations for equipment, check maintenance manuals.
  • Inspects, reconditions, maintains and installs general industrial plant and base support of machinery to include but not limited to pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans belts, and pulleys.
  • Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, and cleans coils.
  • Uses TO's, Air Force manuals, regulations, ANSI Standards, AFOSH Standards 91series, manufactures guidance and blueprints to disassemble, repair, adjust, align, or replace defective parts and components involving the removal of old or damaged parts and machining, boring, welding, realigning, fitting new parts to mechanical devices using precision veneers, gauges, and other calibrating devices. This includes connecting or disconnecting electrical wiring and connections, air hose couplings/fitting's, fuel lines high pressure hydraulic lines and fittings, lubricating systems or any other power source prior to operational testing or actual operation.
  • Independently locates, repairs, or replaces defective parts and components through operational testing, if not specified.
  • Using scaffolding, ladders, and man-lifts, examine and troubleshoot to determine the extent of repairs needed on doors, adjust electrical limit switch sequence for opening closing, machine keys, main bushings, adjust springs for easy opening and closing of overhead and roll-up doors.
  • Examine and troubleshoot to determine repairs on potable water and waste water systems.
  • Install repair or replace mechanical and electrical components on electrical operated gates. Install and align rolling gates and operators and other repair actions necessary for proper operation.
  • Replace cables, lifting hooks, shafts, bearings, and sprockets on all types of hoists/mobile cranes.
  • Replace or remove hoist rails and adjust clutches.
  • Installs, replaces, and/or repairs foundation rails, rollers and tracks, and machinery or equipment connections.
  • Weight tests hoists and cranes after each repair made and as required by Air Force regulations. Completes forms and inspection tags after machinery is repaired and Weight tested and determined suitable for service. Prepares paperwork as necessary to have hoist/crane hooks x-rayed for non-visible cracks. Performs other incidental work operations such as machining small replacement parts, checking and replacing electrical wiring and connections.
  • Performs recurring preventive maintenance on equipment such as, check oil levels, grease fittings, lubricate chains, clean tracks for sliding doors, checks hoist rails, and tracks for obstruction; inspects cables for undue stress and fraying; inspect sprockets on gears for extensive wear; and inspects hook on hoist for cracks. Performs welding to include making brackets, welding busted pipe on gates and similar procedures.
  • Performs other incidental work operations such as checking and replacing electrical wiring and connections and spot welding.
  • Strictly adheres to safety, security procedures and regulations to include Alutiiq LLC, AF and OSHA policies and standards. Utilizes safety personal protective equipment and clothing pertaining to work tasks. Includes arc-flash requirements, as applicable.
  • Adheres to proper security and housekeeping practices, Foreign Object Damage procedures and Airfield Driving Regulations, as applicable.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state and AF environmental laws and regulations.
  • Complies with all applicable Alutiiq LLC SOPs.
  • Assist other crafts as necessary.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, specifications, verbal and written instructions
  • Documents records of inspections, maintenance and repairs.
  • Identifies and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements to supervisor for resolution.
  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical procedures, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components of industrial plant support machinery and equipment.
  • Knowledge of operating characteristics of the involved systems and equipment, and the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods and trade practices.
  • Knowledge and ability to use and work with test equipment and measuring devices, such as micrometers, dial indicators, anemometers, volt meters and flow meters.
  • Knowledgeable in steam/water flow characteristics and theory of operation; able to understand the various applications of all associated equipment such as pumps, traps, strainers, regulators and safety valves.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Position requires pre-employment physical and drug screening.


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:



  • One (1) year experience in maintenance of overhead cranes.
  • Military experience.
  • Previous experience working on a military installation.
  • Experience working on Tinker facilities.
  • Familiarity with military-specific codes and standards, as applicable.
  • Physical Demands:
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to hear and speak. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds will be accomplished with two man teams and using appropriate safety equipment to efficiently accomplish the task. The employee must be able to work in confined spaces or at heights of 120 feet (such as in a manlift or boomlift). The employee is occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings weekends and/or holidays.
