POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Operations Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Pest Controller Lead supporting Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City, OK. The Pest Controller Lead oversees a team of Pest Controllers reviews their work, provides feedback to improve performance, and implements training sessions to enhance their abilities. This position will inspect, identify, prevent, treat, control, and eliminate insects, organisms, rodents, and wild or domestic animals to prevent health problems and the destruction of real property, vegetation, and supplies. This position must ensure that only approved pesticides are used in the execution of pest management.



  • Keeps Supervisor informed of problems and unique situations warranting management notification.
  • Maintains the direct scheduled work (DSW) in accordance with the performance work statement.
  • Performs the Recurring Work Program (RWP) as scheduled, using the prescribed checklists.
  • Accesses Interim Work Information Management System (IWIMS) to review/update DSW requests and RWP Scheduling.
  • Maintains inventory and tracks on-hand pesticides, and submits purchase request when additional pesticides are required.
  • Responsible for mixing chemicals as needed and utilizes best practices when applying pesticides in effort to assist in reducing usage and not exceeding the baseline established by AFPMB.
  • Completes pest management surveys as required prior to utilizing chemicals.
  • Providesmosquito control throughout the breeding season to keep the mosquito population below the critical levels, upon request from Tinker AFB Public Health (TAFBPH).
  • Coordinates all larvicide operations through environmental management.
  • Coordinates and acts as directed by TAFBPH with issues regarding CDC's, hospital, and food service facilities.
  • Traps and/or removes designated species of wildlife causing nuisance or damage problems using humane techniques.
  • Provides annual report of nuisance wildlife control activities.
  • Traps and removes feral dogs and cats in coordination with base veterinarian and the PMP.
  • Captures animals suspected of being rabid because of inappropriate or aggressive behavior.
  • Transports all dead animals on the installation and disposes of them in cooperation with Natural Resources, Security Forces, veterinarian, and public health.
  • Maintains log of dead animals removed.
  • Removes poisonous snakes from the base. Non-poisonous snakes shall be relocated to areas on base more suitable to their existence.
  • Completes agriculture (AG) inspections, removal, and disposal of regulated garbage on in-coming overseas flights for AG clearance.
  • Provides TAFB personnel with approved self-help pesticides.
  • Maintains records of inspections, repairs, and recurring maintenance checklists.
  • Provides annual review with comments/corrections of TAFB Pest Management Plan (TAFBPMP).
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing, to include confined space rescue.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are maintained to include shop and worksites.
  • Performs other related tasks as directed by Management.
  • Accountable for timely, cost effective performance of duties, and timely completion and accuracy of all work.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all Alutiiq, LLC-related matters.
  • Adheres to contract requirements in the performance work statement and Alutiiq policies.
  • Adheres to Department of Defense (DoD) instruction 4150.7 Pest Management Program, AFI 32-1053, Integrated Pest Management Program, and Tinker Air Force Base Integrated Pest Management Plan.
  • Works closely and harmoniously with fellow workers and supervisors.
  • Adheres to all safety and health rules and regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry Certified Applicators License in application categories (3a) ornamental turf, (5) Aquatic, (6) Right of Way, (7a) General Pest, (7b) Structural Pest, (8) Public Health.
  • Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator (NWCO) Permit.
  • Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Hunting License.
  • Create an account in IPMIS (within 90 days of hire date).
  • Received training and obtain the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) approval to handle regulated garbage.
  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Obtain continuing education units (CEU) for annual recertification.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of operating craft equipment.
  • This position may currently and/or in the future be required to obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract.
  • Position requires pre-employment drug screening.
  • Occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings weekends and/or holidays.


PREFERRED QUALITIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Military experience in Entomology.
  • Working knowledge of combined pesticide law and rules.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize the Air Force Civil Engineer Interim Work Information Management System (IWIMS) computer based program.
  • 3 years Pest Management.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must be able to hear and speak.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Lifts exceeding 50 pounds will be accomplished with two man teams and using appropriate safety equipment to efficiently accomplish the task.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or at heights of 120 feet (such as in a man lift/boom lift).
