POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Operations Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Welder supporting Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City, OK. Performs general welding and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities, structures, equipment, parts, and tools. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution.



  • Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes, motors, and generators, according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
  • Welds metal parts together using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
  • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Repairs broken or cracked part, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
  • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
  • Install or repair water, steam, gas, or other type of pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Thread pipes with stocks and dies.
  • Assemble pipe with stocks and dies.
  • Bend pipe by hand driven or power-driven machines.
  • Assemble pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers.
  • Performs standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required.
  • Performs standard test to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications.
  • Assists sheet-metal workers and machinists with work assigned to the shops. This may include painting, fabricating, and installing ductwork, roll up doors, drain pans, etc.
  • Uses and applies standard formulas, shop mathematics, trade theories, and industry practices to calculate materials and problem solving.
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions.
  • Responsible for completing daily labor sheets, documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order.
  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
  • Operates motor vehicles.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
  • Follows Alutiiq furnished information directives; Alutiiq Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Alutiiq Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner thatenhances the safety of the work environment.
  • All other duties assigned.
  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as determined by position and duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess an ASME Welder's Class VI Certificate.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with metal fabrication.
  • Ability to make templates, jigs and other fixtures required for repair or installations.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid state driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of valid insurance.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English


PREFERRED QUALITIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Two (2) year experience with metal fabrication experience.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Military experience.
  • Previous experience working on a military installation.
  • Experience working on Tinker facilities.
  • Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
