The Technical Training Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining training programs for the Stellantis Dealership Network Technicians. Subjects include gasoline and diesel engines, fuel systems, steering/suspension/brakes, automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, electrical, air conditioning and heating, and body systems. This role is to develop the service technician training, including new product launch support courses, core curriculum instructor led and virtual classroom training, specialty vehicle course development, web self-study courses, and course updates. The qualified candidate will apply instructional design process, adult learning theory, and relevant instructional experience to increase the level of interactivity and learning in course products. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Define and develop the core curriculum for the assigned skill areas
- Conduct technical training development needs analysis and solution planning meetings
- Provide media selection recommendation and alternative training plans based on course criteria
- Manage the development of multiple courses at the same time
- Research technical content of new products through use of existing publications, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and other information resources
- Interact with engineers, technicians and other subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of information produced
- Examine the operation and disassembly/assembly of actual components to gain technician level product knowledge
- Follow specifications and style guide to ensure consistency, quality and conformation to standards
- Manage the development process timeline from start of work to handoff
- Ensure that all courses are technically accurate and course activities are effective
- Continually monitor previously developed courses in the assigned skill areas to maintain the relevance as the vehicles and components change
- Keep current with the direction of future technology and analyze the impact these changes will have on current courses, technicians, dealers, and Stellantis
- Deliver the trainer instructional sessions
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of automotive technical experience diagnosing, maintaining and repairing vehicles (e.g., automotive technician, instructor and/or training developer)
- Current technical writing experience or equivalent coursework
- Experience in project management
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures
- Experience with at least one of the following: gasoline and/or diesel engine components, fuel systems, steering, suspension, brakes, automatic and/or manual transmissions, electrical, air conditioning, heating, body systems
- Ability to interact effectively with various management levels
- An understanding of training development/application
- Strong communication skills written, verbal and platform
- Ability to multi task and work in a rapid paced environment
- Familiarity and ease with office automation programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe, etc.)
