Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Safety and Health Manager role supporting the tissue, towel and napkin manufacturing operations at our Consumer Products Group Operation located in Crossett, AR.

The Safety and Health Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety and health programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors at Georgia-Pacific facilities. This role focuses on compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and minimizing risks associated with industrial operations.

This position will lead a Safety and Health capability group that includes strategic direction and oversight for the areas of Occupational Safety and Health, Process Safety Management, Worker's Compensation and Injury Medical Management, site security and the Emergency Response Team.

Our Team

Located just north of Monroe, LA and south of Little Rock, AR, the Crossett mill employs about 500 people and has four tissue paper machines which produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Quilted Northern Ultra Soft and Strong and Angel Soft. Crossett is a great place for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and hiking. For urban activities, Little Rock and Monroe are just a short drive away.

What You Will Do

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and health programs aligned with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Partner with mill leadership to develop and execute strategic safety and health improvement plans, including effectively communicating the safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) methodology at the site, including department and task risk assessments
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to prevent recurrence
  • Provide training and education to employees and management on safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and other departments to integrate safety best practices into daily activities
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements such as OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety laws
  • Prepare and maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety culture
  • Manage emergency response planning and drills
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety and health management in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
  • Proven ability to lead safety programs and influence organizational behavior
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using and applying EHS Management Systems
  • Experience and working knowledge of OSHA regulations, compliance standards, and conducting training
  • Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts and methods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene
  • Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) is a plus
  • Experience with OSHA Recordkeeping, accident investigation, and risk assessment tools
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and industrial hygiene
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving safety culture improvements with leading and developing people
  • Experience with process safety management in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience establishing sustainable management systems for EHS compliance and continuous improvement
