What We're Looking For:

If you enjoy learning about and working with breakthrough technologies, we want to hear from you! We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Integration and Test to join our Iridium Space Development Agency (SDA) System Engineering, Integration, and Test team. As the Integration and Test Engineer, you will apply expertise in cutting edge technologies to develop and deploy automation test capabilities in our ground system environment. You will also provide expertise and experience within the larger development team to support cross-functional efforts and collaboration across all areas of development. You will thrive in this role if you have a desire to be part of a team on the forefront of one of the most advanced satellite constellations in the world and are highly motivated and passionate about system engineering and space systems.

What You'll Do:
    Perform requirements analysis, definition, decomposition, and management for Space and Ground Segments
  • Conduct required system analysis (functional & performance), interface definition, and detailed trade studies, analyzing multiple data sources to respond to frequent, complex, and high impact situations
  • Collaborate with others on project decisions and provide system engineering best practices in program design and delivery, utilizing critical thinking skills to better design new or developing systems
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for satellite ground system integration and test environment
  • Collaborate with software developers and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and design test cases
  • Use a variety of automation tools and techniques to create efficient and effective test suites
  • Support collaborative efforts and initiatives with Iridium Satellite Operations and other ground software team members to develop new ground software components founded upon modern industry standard platforms, languages, and deployment techniques
  • Develop software that focuses on integration testing with automated test framework
What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in system engineering, software programming and/or testing experience
  • Strong knowledge of system engineering methodologies and AGILE processes
  • Strong familiarity with tools and software applications that support system engineering integration and test best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions
  • Be proactive in providing feedback and be enthusiastic in sharing your knowledge with others
  • Capable of prioritizing your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others while making sure deadlines are met
  • Effective troubleshooting skills supporting large scale integration/test on VLAN virtualize Linux environment
  • Have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude when taking on ever increasing SW development tasks
  • The ability to learn, work with, and become proficient with numerous COTS packages
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
  • Knowledge and experience with designing, developing, and operating Space Vehicle Subsystems
  • Knowledge and experience with designing, developing, and operating various Command and Control Systems (i.e: OS Comet, InControl, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with aspects of the Hardware Software Development Life Cycle process
  • Programming languages such as: Java, Java-Script, Python, Shell scripting
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols, routers, switches, etc.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Tool Suite such JIRA, R4J and Confluence
We'll also need you to:
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be able to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Be able to work in the office at least 2 days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
