Summary: he Rental Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing rental fleet equipment to ensure it is in safe and optimal working condition for customer use. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality equipment and customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate service of rental units.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Inspect incoming and outgoing rental equipment to identify damage, maintenance needs, or required repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment such as compact loaders, excavators, and other construction/industrial machinery.
  • Document inspection findings and repair activities in the company's service or rental management system.
  • Ensure all safety decals, instructions, and required documentation are properly placed on equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental yard, shop, and assigned tools.
  • Coordinate with parts department and rental operations to ensure timely turnaround of equipment.
  • Perform operational checks and test runs to confirm repair effectiveness.
  • Load, unload, and stage equipment as needed for delivery or pickup.
  • Support fleet readiness by alerting supervisors to upcoming service intervals, warranty issues, or recurring problems.
  • Comply with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and equipment manufacturer guidelines.


Able to follow all environmental; HAZMAT; and safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to push/pull at least 75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.


Must be able to work outside in various weather elements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and inspection checklists.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.



Education/ Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Trade School
