Reimagine What's Possible

As a member of the Supply Chain team, the Buyer/Planner is responsible for procuring materials from domestic and international sources and ensuring those materials are available when needed for production. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the efficient & effective procurement and planning of raw materials, to meet production schedules and customer demand, while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing costs. This role involves analyzing demand forecasts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials through the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Primary contact with suppliers and internal customers in the areas of supplier performance.

  • Promptly communicate any material shortages or non-conformances and spearhead solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule.

  • Manage invoice reconciliations.

  • Manage material replenishment agreements & Kanban inventory programs for your respective materials / suppliers.

  • Analyze data and collaborate with Planning & Production to provide material forecasts to your suppliers.

  • Procure materials and components for operations - negotiate and manage purchase orders.

  • Issue request for quotations (RFQs) in support of new products or design changes

  • Monitor & evaluate supplier performance on key metrics (OTD, quality, cost, responsiveness).

  • Conduct inventory cycle count for your area of responsibility.

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with your suppliers.

  • Utilize SAP and MES systems proficiently for data entry, analysis, and reporting.

  • Strong conflict resolution, relationship management and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g. CPIM, CPSM)

  • 3 years of experience within purchasing with general exposure to commercial terms.

  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and procurement terminology.

  • Knowledge of general inventory operating systems. SAP knowledge a plus.

  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and techniques (e.g. Kanban).

  • Understanding of supply chain metrics and financial implications.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
