Position Overview

Pantheon Data is seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) Shipboard Network Engineer to support our ongoing efforts with the U.S. Coast Guard. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electronics and network engineering, with significant experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex shipboard or enterprise-level network environments. This role will focus on ensuring robust, secure, and optimized network operations across maritime systems.

Responsibilities



  • Lead the design, integration, and management of shipboard or land-based network architectures.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling on Coast Guard vessels and systems.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols to optimize network performance and reliability.






      • Applying knowledge of and experience with engineering principles and techniques, to develop and evaluate moderately complex technical reports related to application of C5I systems onboard USCG ships.
      • Reviewing and evaluating the effect of new and/or modified electronics on overall system performance.
      • Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS's), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC's).
      • Review design review comments submitted by junior engineers and advise decisionmakers on considerations for high impact and critical design review decisions.
      • Provide leadership and coordinates review efforts for verification and validation work for Networking related work efforts in the Electronics Engineering discipline.
      • Provide mentorship to junior engineers related to the area of shipboard networking design and analyses.






Required Skills and Experience



  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in electronics engineering disciplines.
  • At least 10 years of documented experience in developing, integrating, and managing shipboard or land-based networks.
  • Previous experience with shipboard and defense C5I systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of military or maritime communication systems is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, or DoD programs.


Clearance Requirements

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location: Hybrid - two (3) days a week at USCG HQ (DHS St. Elizabeth's Campus in D.C.)

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
