The senior public information officer (SPIO) in the university's central news team will enhance UC Riverside's reputation through distilling, reporting, writing, and disseminating peer-reviewed research and other news for an audience of campus stakeholders, alumni, the general public, and news media. This position's work will primarily involve collaboration with UC Riverside's College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, as well as other colleges, schools, departments, and administrative units as needed. As part of UC Riverside's central communications team in the University Relations department, the incumbent will collaborate with a dynamic group of research writers and media relations professionals. A successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who exercises strong judgment and discretion in building relationships with journalists and campus stakeholders and crafting compelling stories that reflect the depth and range of UCR's academic excellence. Please note: Finalists for this position may need to submit samples of their work/portfolios for review by the selection committee. Additionally, a cover letter is required.

The full salary range for the Senior Public Information Officer is $73,600 - $133,200 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $73,600 - $90,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
