Project Delivery Leader, Transportation

RK&K is seeking a Project Delivery Leader, Transportation to play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of Transportation Projects throughout the firm. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on projects of all delivery types.

Essential Function



  • Lead and manage transportation design projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, serving as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on various assignments in Viriginia and across the RK&K portfolio.
  • Serve as a key liaison between clients, contractors, internal teams, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Apply Highway Design Standards and guidelines to produce accurate construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates using tools such as OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Ensure quality control, compliance with client requirements, and adherence to industry standards across all phases of project development.
  • Mentor junior engineers, support career development, and direct project staff and sub-consultants.
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, plan approvals, and technical presentations, maintaining strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to deliver innovative, cost-effective design solutions and stay current with industry trends and delivery methods.
  • Participate in business development, marketing efforts, proposal writing, and alternative delivery pursuits to secure future work.


Required Skills and Experience



  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Ten (10) + years of experience in civil engineering design with a focus in transportation/highway engineering
  • Professional Engineering Registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months
  • Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with federal, state, and local government projects


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Alternative project delivery experience
