We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Human Resources department. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for an onsite HR Generalist, HRIS. The hours are 0700-1600, Monday-Friday. Shift: ALL Security Clearance:No Clearance SUMMARY The Human Resources Generalist, HRIS will perform a wide range of Human Resources tasks and projects with organizational impact across three locations. The primary focus of this position will be providing data management and visualization support and analytics to stakeholders. The HR Generalist, HRIS maintains and queries multiple systems, including PeopleSoft, Costpoint and SuccessFactors to support HR data management, compensation, benefits, performance, learning management, talent acquisition and other HR functions., ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Serves as the point of contact for data entry and data management for three separate business units. Provides assistance with all questions related to PeopleSoft, Costpoint and SuccessFactors, escalating when appropriate.
- Ensures the optimal function of the organization's internal HR information services systems, which may include database management, working collaboratively with others on system customization, development, testing and upgrades to applications, systems, and modules.
- Creates and delivers workforce data reports, summaries, and analytics requested by stakeholders across the business, including the development and maintenance of an HRIS dashboard.
- Supports service requests and projects between HR, Information Services, Finance, external entities, and other stakeholders for HR database design, network support, and maintenance and implementation projects.
- Designs user-friendly processes, guidelines, and other training documentation.
- Designs and generates customized HR reports to provide insights into key metrics (employee performance, turnover, etc.)
- Assists employees with information and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
- Assists with on-boarding and off-boarding processing for all employees.
- Oversees the maintenance of employee records, ensuring data integrity.
- Administers HR policies and ensures compliance with labor laws, company guidelines, and best practices.
- Demonstrates understanding and commitment to NASSCO's mission, vision, and guiding principles
- Heavy customer service interface with employees and public
- Assists with the administration of compensation practices, completes personnel transactions and maintains associated records.
- Works with other HR team members to ensure smooth service delivery, addressing employee concerns and inquiries promptly.
- Collaborates with HR team members on projects to improve efficiency.
- Works under broad direction and performs additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Regular, reliable, on-site attendance is an essential function of this role
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and three of experience OR
- Six years of directly related experience
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Basic understanding of benefits administration and leave of absence (FMLA/STD/LTD/Workers Compensation)
- Working knowledge of HR concepts, practices and procedures
- Demonstrated organization and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, listen, maintain confidentiality, speak professionally, and learn process and procedures quickly
- Advanced Excel Skills; experience with business intelligence tools, such as Power Bi. Experience with PeopleSoft, Fidelity systems, Costpoint, and SuccessFactors preferred
- Must have knowledge of timekeeping policies and procedures
- Must have an excellent understanding of what an Ethics program is and the importance of having one
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management
- Knowledge of current Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations regarding FMLA, ADA and HIPAA
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, apply and explain applicable regulatory requirements
- Respond to requests and inquiries in person and over the telephone
- Ability to work under pressure, Self-starter, ability to resolve issues and research solutions
- Ability to learn, understand, and respond to internal customer needs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must be able to physically access and transit all areas of the shipyard which may include walking moderately long distances, walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.
