Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Factory
Conduct Quality Audits of lines and 'self-control' paperwork to ensure product being produced meets established quality standards.
Monitor process and critical control points to ensure compliance to company and quality standards. Communicate deviations to the appropriate department for corrective action.
Conduct analytical testing of product and raw materials used for or during manufacture to assure they meet company standards. Tests may include color, particle size, fat content, viscosity, count per pound, flavor, etc.
Assess the quality of incoming materials to make sure they meet specifications as needed. Ensure that the COAs comply for all lots delivered.
Assemble daily paperwork for review and signature.
Attend the shift transition meeting daily representing the QA department.
Verify and document proper allergen cleanup after production changeover as needed.
Hold non-conforming raw materials, packaging materials, WIP and finished product.
Communicating with production and warehouse teams to ensure product is appropriately labelled and non-conformances are brought under control (when applicable).
* Collect product samples needed for customers, microbiological assessment or other reasons as instructed. * Perform routine additional activities as assigned (glass and brittle plastics audits, food safety inspections, etc.) * Maintain the laboratory and work area in sanitary condition. * Utilize Good Laboratory Practice when conducting testing, handling out of specification results, labeling solutions, data entry into Quality Tracker etc. * Additional activities as assigned.
Computer:
Utilize computer to enter and track test result data. * Evaluate test data and report deviations from existing standards. Communication * Good verbal and written communication skills needed to communicate with co-workers at shift change and to communicate quality issues to operations employees and supervisors. * For business and safety reasons, must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written English. Miscellaneous * Special projects as required. * Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education/Experience:
A degree in Food Sciences, Biology, Microbiology or related field is preferred.
Alternates:
* 3+ years in food safety/quality in food manufacturer
OR
* 5+ years in food manufacturing
Communication
* Able to read, write, speak and understand English and/or Spanish (Required).
* Fluency in English and Spanish (Preferred)
