Job Description

Job Summary
The Dispatcher plays a key role in maintaining the smooth and efficient flow of production within the manufacturing facility. This position ensures production orders are Ready to Execute (RTE) by proactively preparing all required materials, tools, and resources ahead of time. The Dispatcher is the central point of coordination between planning and production, ensuring compliance with the build plan, cleanliness and safety standards, and timely material movement across work centers.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Preparation
- Review and execute to the build plan to ensure all jobs are RTE prior to their scheduled start.
- Order and stage required materials, tools, fixtures, and programs in advance of job start.
- Keep one full day ahead of manufacturing by preparing "next-in" work.
- Ensure paper planning documents are available and accurate per the build plan.
Execution & Workflow Management
- Walk assigned production areas to monitor work progress and identify jobs ready to move.
- Move completed jobs to the next work center and confirm proper MHE (Material Handling Equipment) is used and parts are protected during transport.
- Support expedited movement of high-priority jobs, including notifying the next work center of incoming parts.
- Maintain continuous communication with manufacturing teams to help resolve issues impacting daily targets (Takt time and on-time starts).
Compliance & Standard Work
- Attend daily manufacturing meetings to understand the schedule, address "Held-For" issues, and align with the production plan.
- At shift end, ensure all work areas are clean, aisles are clear, carts are aligned, and a proper shift handoff is completed.
- Participate in safety initiatives, including the HazID Program, and reinforce safety protocols in all material movements.
Monitoring & Analysis
- Track and report parts with more than 20 Days In Area (DIA); escalate to manufacturing for resolution.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying blockers to flow and proposing corrective actions.
Shift Information
Monday-Thursday 5am-330pm
Experience/Education/Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, logistics, or production dispatching strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret build plans and manufacturing schedules.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., ERP/MRP systems, Excel, email).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to [X] lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with frequent movement between work centers.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor; exposure to machinery, forklifts, and varying temperatures.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated areas.
