Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-4 years of research administration experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of federal sponsors, programs, governance, and electronic systems.
  • Experience with electronic research administration systems and software.
  • Proficient with computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets) & eRA systems.

License/Certification Required
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree with five or more years of research administration experience with a broad range of sponsors.
  • CRA
  • Knowledge of research compliance issues and regulations.
  • Knowledge of University and state research guidelines and regulations.
  • Leadership and management experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Assistant Director for Proposal Management ( ADPM) is to manage the flow of proposal submission and review in support of the strategic departmental/Office of Research/Institutional goals and measures.

This individual reports to the SP Sr. Associate Director for Research Administration, who reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages the internal flow of proposal processes before submission.
  • Works with faculty and staff to submit proposals.
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance in sponsored project proposal development and submission.
  • Mentors colleagues and assists with the development of electronic tools and resources.
  • Assists the director and the associate director in providing oversight for large, complex proposals with various federal, state, corporate, private, and non-profit sponsors.
  • Collaborates in the planning and delivery of SP workshop offerings and may take the lead on important SP initiatives.
  • Engages in professional development activities to assist with the provision of cutting-edge services.
