DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator B, the majority of your work will focus on the operation of heavy equipment and trucks to assist in the maintenance, repair, and construction of the roads and facilities throughout the Rothrock State Forest area. Maintenance projects will involve the use of various equipment such as backhoes, dozers, crawler loaders, road graders, rollers, farm tractors, dump trucks, and forklifts. Specific duties entail the repair and maintenance of state forest roads, culverts, and bridges, in addition to maintaining forest boundary lines, recreational trails, and signage. You will also be responsible for conducting routine and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment as necessary. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in wildland fire prevention and pre-suppression programs and activities, as well as overseeing the maintenance of fire fighting equipment. - This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial driver's license (CDL).
Other Requirements:
