Company Profile: Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office. N3B brings operational discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract. Position Location: This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in America. For two years in a row, Los Alamos County has ranked as the healthiest county in the nation according to a U.S. News report. The city is a top spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has more than 120 hiking and biking trails, and residents enjoy easy access to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Thanks to the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos' presence in the area, Los Alamos also has a college-town vibe that's a major draw for young professionals, families and retirees. Position Summary: Training Manager 3 will function as the Nuclear Qualified Technical Training Manager for N3B and will manage and provide leadership to the technical training group. This position is responsible for the design and delivery of programs to train all levels of personnel for the entire workforce (approximately 450 employees). This also includes evaluating and providing oversight of contractors and vendors in developing and administering training programs; and will be responsible for development of e-learning programs. The Training Manager develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs, including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present. The Training Manager is viewed as an expert in the field and as highly competent within the broad training discipline, both internally and externally. This manager will have direct oversite of the qualification standard development process, requalification program, and any ad hoc programs as assigned. 426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree combined with 7 years' relative experience. Experience should include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibility. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office work environment.
