AsHead of Federal Government Affairs, you will play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by working with internal business partners and external stakeholders to advocate for thoughtful public policy. Policy issues include but are not limited to Financial Services, Retirement Security and Tax. This role will represent Pacific Life before Congress, federal agencies, regulators, and national trade associations, educating public officials and their staff on public policy that impacts Pacific Life and its customers. This role will build strong relationships with Congress and work closely with Pacific Life's senior leadership and the Government & Policy Affairs team.

How you will make an impact:

  • Work closely with members of Congress and their staff to educate them about Pacific Life and our customers. The candidate will participate in official meetings, committee hearings and markups, policy briefings, and campaign events. The candidate will serve as an effective thought leader and advocate on issues before Congress.

  • In partnership with Pacific Life's business units, trade associations, and other stakeholders, this role will analyze legislation and regulations and determine possible impacts to Pacific Life and our customers. Will lead the development of public policy positions and the advocacy materials that support those positions.

  • Develop strategies to advance the public policies that are supported by Pacific Life and our customers. Will serve as a thought leader in trade associations and coalitions, identify new partners and stakeholders, and manage issues as they move through the legislative process.

  • Partner with Pacific Life's divisions and subsidiaries to assess the impact of public policy on the business and our customers. Incorporate concerns identified by business units into advocacy programs and elevate those concerns to trade associations and other relevant stakeholders. Develop presentations that inform Pacific Life's leadership and internal business stakeholders about legislative activity.

  • Will actively lead and represent Pacific Life in external working groups, committees, meetings and events at trade associations and coalitions.

Theexperience you will bring:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated and effective experience in government relations with a deep understanding of politics at the federal level.

  • Proven work ethic to include a commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.

  • The ability to manage ambiguity and develop the best path forward under changing circumstances.

  • Strong growth mindset with the ability to introduce new ideas and problem solve in support of the broader organization's goals.

  • Strong teamwork mindset with the ability to include team members and work towards a common goal.

Base Pay Range: $220,000 - $280,000

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
