Position description
Junior, Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist - Borowsky lab Our lab is seeking a highly motivated scientist capable of independently designing and conducting a wide range of experiments and analyses to investigate the mechanisms underlying human diseases. Our research integrates human and experimental animal model-derived tissues, multi-omics platforms, and advanced cell culture systems. Therefore, the ideal candidate should possess broad expertise in biology, anatomy, physiopathology, imaging analysis, multi-omics technologies, molecular and cellular biology, and computational data analysis. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and perform multi-omics-based imaging analyses on tissues derived from humans and experimental animal models (e.g., mice) to investigate tissue architecture, identify diverse cell types, and assess their biological activities.
- Develop and implement advanced 3D cell culture and organoid models that mimic in vivo tissue microenvironments, to study cellular behavior and interactions within target tissues.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets using programming languages such as Python or R, extracting key parameters from multi-omics and imaging experiments.
- Contribute to scientific writing, including the preparation of research manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals.
- Manage and maintain digital research data and records, ensuring accuracy, reproducibility, and compliance with data management best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Junior Specialist - Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
- Assistant Specialist - Master's degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
- Associate Specialist - Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Full Specialist - terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization
- Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral research experience, with a strong focus on pathological tissue imaging analysis, experimental animal models, and organotypic 3D cell culture models and their associated analyses.
- Extensive experience with multi-omics technologies, including the ability to design experiments and analyze complex datasets independently.
- Proven expertise in experimental model design and analytical methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to execute and troubleshoot complex biological experiments.
- Proficiency in coding (e.g., Python, R) and working with imaging platforms for data processing and analysis.
- Strong scientific writing skills, with the ability to independently prepare research manuscripts and grant applications. Experience as a first and/or corresponding author is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with histopathological tissue imaging, including interpretation and analysis.
- Proficiency in using multiple imaging software platforms for image processing, quantification, and visualization.
- Hands-on experience with experimental animal models, tissue/organotypic cultures, and a solid foundation in cell biology techniques.
- Background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or biophysics, with applied experience in relevant experimental methods.
- Demonstrated ability to independently write and execute code scripts for data analysis (e.g., in Python or R).
- Proven experience in independently writing research manuscripts, including data interpretation and figure preparation.
