Position Announcement

The Department of Art at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art History. The Art Department at UT helps students take their artistic interests and refine them into lifelong passions, offering five majors that help students thrive in the creative world. Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits of lecture courses in Art History each academic year, to majors and non-majors, at the undergraduate and graduate level. Opportunities for curriculum development are also available.
  • Attend department, division, and college faculty meetings. Work with other faculty in program management. Adhere to University policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Art History from an accredited college or university required. Preference will be given to those applicants who were recently awarded (within the last two years), or are about to earn, a Ph.D. in Art History. ABD may be considered if degree is awarded prior to August 2026.
  • Demonstrated ability in successful teaching, be technology literate, with ability to be certified in online instruction and/or willing to teach one or more courses online and/or in a blended format. Finalists will be required to demonstrate competence through a teaching demonstration.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience for our students.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $60,000, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
