The University Facility Services - Grounds Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Groundskeeper to join our team. Grounds Services is an award-winning team that cares for the beautiful University of Arizona campus, employees, and campus community. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Maintain the appearance of
outdoor spaces, by removing and disposing of weeds, litter, trash, and debris from landscape areas as well as outdoor hard surfaces including, but not limited to outdoor patios and plazas, sidewalks, bike paths, and curb lines. - Perform general landscaping
tasks such as mowing, pruning, trimming, weeding, watering, and planting according to species using appropriate horticultural techniques. - Installs or renovates
landscapes as directed. Plants trees, shrubs, ground covers, cacti, and flowers. Places organic and inorganic landscape materials such as mulches, soils, and various sized rock and boulders. - Supports University outdoor events through set-up and providing temporary trash and recycle containers, occasional staffing throughout an event, and post event breakdown and clean up. Ensure the event space is clean, safe, and prepared for guests before, during, and after the event.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
- Ability to use non-powered equipment such as hand pruners, loppers, hedge pruners, shovels, rakes, brooms, and scoops.
- Ability to safely operate battery or gas powered equipment such as utility carts, motor vehicles, handheld and backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, line trimmers, lawn mowers, pressure washers.
- Capable of navigating uneven surfaces and work outdoors in varying weather conditions the majority of the work day.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more as needed.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High
school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. - Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience
working for University, School District or City/State Agencies or Parks.
- State Certified
pesticide license.
- Commercial Driver's
License.
- Two years of
groundskeeping experience.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
