The Analyst, Impact Investing is a core contributor within ECMC Group's Education Impact Fund ("EIF"), a $250M evergreen venture capital fund that aims to generate outsized impact in post-secondary education and workforce development alongside financial returns. In collaboration with other members of the investment team, the Analyst will support the execution of the EIF investment mandate, including deal sourcing, transaction execution, and portfolio management. This role is suited for a passionate and entrepreneurial individual looking to progress their career in early stage investing and take on greater responsibility within an impact-focused venture capital investment platform. The EIF team is a small, high-energy group where all individuals can take on significant responsibility as they grow within the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Engages with other members of the investment team to continuously refine and evaluate investment theses and identifies new investment themes and perspectives.
- Monitors and analyzes external market dynamics, assesses trends, and develops actionable investment theses and research.
- Supports end-to-end investment processes, including proactive deal sourcing, due diligence on prospective companies, market analysis and competitive landscaping, drafting investment memos / presentations.
- Employs customary analyses (e.g. market sizing) and valuation techniques to assess the economic value of potential investments. Creates detailed, dynamic operating and financial models to assess the impacts of various scenarios and potential returns.
- Monitors portfolio company performance and identifies impact acceleration opportunities.
- Supports internal operational activities, including external marketing / reporting, management of investment pipeline CRM, financial and impact reporting activities for the impact investment portfolio.
- Effectively communicates complex concepts through clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal narratives to support strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
- Cultivates and maintains strategic relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, including entrepreneurs and investors, to support organizational goals and foster collaboration.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of additional experience in lieu of degree
- 2+ years in management consulting, private equity, investment banking, or a related field
- Proficiency in financial modeling and strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced analytics in Excel and articulate presentations in PowerPoint
- Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance analytical and operational tasks
- Deep interest in entrepreneurship, impact investing, and education/workforce development
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive of 10%, based on individual performance and company-wide outcomes.
