This position will be responsible for the project management and oversight of transit corridors, transit maintenance facilities, transit stations and centers, and bus terminals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in the transit industry, a thorough understanding of client programs, and proven experience managing multi-disciplinary project deliverables. While there will be a primary focus on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects, the role may also involve related transit and transportation initiatives.

This position will require flexibility to travel within the region to meet in person with clients and project teams.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Northeast BRT Section Leader, we'll count on you to:

* Assist in growing the Philadelphia and OH/PA/WV/DE transit team and BRT resources within HDR and building connections with the larger transit matrix of resources to win work and drive growth in the northeast transit market for HDR.

* Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)

* Responsible for any project assignment regardless of size, visibility, number of disciplines, technical complexity or number of staff.

* Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently

* Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings

* Conduct working sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders

* Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule

* Successful Project Delivery

* Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule

* Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews

* Implement QA/QC procedures

* Supervise large project staff and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers

* Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* Professional Licensure(s) preferred - PE, AICP, RA

* PMP certification

* Minimum of 5 years in the transit industry managing design and construction of capital projects of increasingly responsible experience, including bus rapid transit specifically and other transit infrastructure

* Experience with designing and implementing transit facilities such as bus rapid transit, transit stations, parks and rides, transit centers, and operations and maintenance facilities

* GIS skills including ArcGIS

* Experience with state departments of transportation

* Experience with the federal transit administration

* Experience in:

o Project budgets, estimating, Cost control, scheduling and risk management

o Architectural design

o Bus Rapid Transit

o Local, regional, state, and federal agencies, groups and organizations involved in transit planning and development

o National, State and Local Laws, codes, regulations, and legal requirements related to public transportation

o Americans with Disabilities Act Accessible Guidelines

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 15 years related experience
  • A minimum of 7 years project management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
