Purpose

The Human Resources Coordinator administers and supports Blanton Museum of Art's HR functions of recruitment and onboarding, HR reporting, performance management, and administrative requirements including benefits and payroll administration, and employee file maintenance. Acts as liaison to other departments on campus. Reports to Human Resources Manager.

Responsibilities

HR Coordination and Administration

  • Responsible for coordinating and administering human resources support for the museum, ensuring compliance with all institutional rules and regulations pertinent to human resources functions.

  • Assist managers with policies and procedures on the full employment life cycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes, along with training and development.

  • Assist with planning employee engagement events, coordinating resources across departments to maximize existing resources, generate interest and encourage participation.

  • Liaise between employees and Central HR to resolve benefits-related questions, ensuring effective use of benefits plans; facilitate employee education and positive employee relations whenever possible.

  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Maintain Employee Records

  • Create and maintain all employee personnel files (both digital and hard copy), keeping active employee files current, and maintain inactive employee files following university protocol.

  • Support HR operations by processing high-volume business transactions, preparing HR reports, maintaining organizational charts, and enhancing workflow efficiencies.

  • Maintain and publish Monthly Staff Directory.

Recruitment

  • Coordinate all human resources activities for recruitment and hiring of new personnel, including posting jobs, filtering resumes and candidates, requesting background checks, preparing offer letters, and related follow-up activities.

  • Organize employee training sessions such as new hire orientation, onboarding, Central HR orientations, new manager training for new managers, etc.

  • Assist with the job posting process to the UT job board, external profession-specific websites, and other resources to gather a talented applicant pool.

Performance Management

  • Assist with annual performance appraisal process; develop and maintain tracking and follow up on required probationary performance reviews.

Other

  • Performs related duties as assigned. May work on assigned projects.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in a human resources role, demonstrating knowledge of HR best practices, processes, labor laws, and regulations.

  • Strong command of written and oral English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • High level of attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team, fostering effective relationships in a collegial environment.

  • Experience working in a high-volume office environment while managing multiple deadlines efficiently.

  • Commitment to promoting a dynamic, service-oriented workplace.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than the required experience.

  • SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or equivalent HR certification.

  • Experience working in an arts-related or non-profit environment.

  • Ability to work without close supervision and demonstrated ability to make decisions.

  • Experience working with Workday.

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
