Position summary:

Trainee: This is a trainee role focused on learning how to perform outside plant operations, testing, maintenance, administrative functions and other duties as assigned for a power plant consisting of gas turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbine generators, and plant auxiliary equipment.

Technician: Safely perform plant operations, testing, maintenance and administrative functions for a power plant consisting of four GE LM6000 gas turbine generators, four heat recovery steam generators, two steam turbine generators, one simple cycle LM6000, two simple cycle LMS100 gas turbine generators and balance of plant support equipment.

Pay Range: This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Trainee: $28.05 - $42.12 per hour
Technician: $34.71 - $52.19 per hour

Reporting Relationship: IPP Operations Supervisor

Location: Pueblo, CO

Essential Functions:
* Ability to gain understanding of combined cycle power plant operations to include start-up, shutdown and emergency operational actions, with safety being considered in every activity
* Operate a forklift
* Continuously increase own knowledge by personal independent study in order to become an O&M IPP Technician
* Follow and implement emergency procedures as assigned
* Learn and ultimately become proficient at performing chemical analysis on plant water systems which include boiler water, demineralized water, condensate water, feedwater, cooling water, and raw water
* Learn the processes and procedures needed to perform proper turnover discussing current plant status, potential problem areas and status of current clearances and maintenance activities
* Learn and ultimately become proficient at performing equipment inspections and plant rounds
* Provide information for various plant reports
* Learn to make minor repairs and adjustments on boiler equipment and report other maintenance requirements

Additional Responsibilities:
* Perform general housekeeping duties
* Maintain plant logs on equipment operation
* Provide information for various plant reports

What Is Required:
Trainee:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 0-2 years technical training or equivalent experience with electrical or mechanical systems
* Knowledge and/or background for operating and maintaining mechanical and/or electrical systems
* Ability to understand plant hazards and safety equipment
* Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information
* Ability to use mechanical tools and hand tools and to occasionally perform heavy lifting
* Ability to solve problems
* Attention to detail
* Ability to be certified in the use of respirators

Technician:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum (4) four years working in a combined cycle or gas turbine power plant environment or equivalent technical training in operations and routine maintenance of power plants or relatable industrial experience.

What Is Desired:
* Detailed knowledge of operating a power plant, power plant systems and their interrelationships.
* Thorough knowledge and/or background for operating and maintaining mechanical and/or electrical systems.
* Thorough knowledge of computer based preventive maintenance programs.
* Thorough knowledge of plant hazards and safety equipment.
* Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Understand the principles of chemistry and their relationship to power plant operations.
* Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information.
* Ability to use mechanical tools and hand tools and to occasionally perform heavy lifting.
* Ability to be certified in the use of respirators.
