Storage Management and Administration Lead

Location: Bethesda, MD (Onsite with some Hybrid flexibility)

Job Overview: The Storage Management and Administration Lead requires deep technical expertise in enterprise storage, backup systems, disaster recovery planning, and cloud migration. The Lead will oversee storage infrastructure performance, backup/recovery strategy, and continuity of operations (COOP/DR) to ensure high availability of mission-critical IT systems. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with Dell storage (Isilon NAS, Unity SAN), Cohesity (or similar), and enterprise backup platforms (CommVault, etc.) as well as leadership skills to direct technical teams and coordinate federal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Storage & Backup Management



  • Develop capacity planning strategies to support business growth and storage requirements.
  • Manage and optimize SAN/NAS environments, ensuring seamless integration with production, test, and development servers.
  • Configure and manage NFS and SMB shares, including user permissions and access controls.
  • Design and implement backup and recovery strategies, including logical recovery, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Install, configure, and administer enterprise backup tools (e.g., CommVault, Cohesity) for on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Manage cloud-to-cloud and on-premises-to-cloud backup migration projects.
  • Support large-scale storage volumes, ensuring availability, scalability, and data protection.


Disaster Recovery (DR) & Continuity of Operations (COOP)



  • Develop and implement customized disaster recovery procedures for mission-critical systems.
  • Ensure all storage and backup systems support Client's COOP and DR requirements.
  • Lead DR testing, failover simulations, and post-event reviews to ensure readiness and compliance.


Incident & Performance Management



  • Manage critical incidents across international teams supporting storage, backup, and server technologies.
  • Monitor and fine-tune storage performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks.
  • Establish storage standards teams to drive standard builds, best practices, and repeatable processes.


Documentation & Reporting



  • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and architecture diagrams to ensure repeatable and compliant storage management processes.
  • Provide technical and performance reports to Client leadership and contract stakeholders.
  • Document storage/backup environments for audit readiness and federal reporting requirements.


Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement



  • Lead storage and backup support staff, assigning responsibilities and ensuring effective task completion.
  • Provide strategic and technical consultation to government stakeholders, aligning solutions with Client mission needs.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, system administration, and network teams to ensure storage security and compliance.


Requirements



  • 8+ years designing, deploying, and managing enterprise storage and backup systems.
  • 8+ years in backup solution administration (CommVault or equivalent).
  • 5+ years with Dell storage solutions (Isilon NAS, Unity SAN).
  • 3+ years with Cohesity or hyper-converged storage/backup solutions.
  • 8+ years planning and executing COOP and DR strategies.
  • 5+ years experience with cloud-to-cloud and on-prem backup migrations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

    (7 years of directly relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.)
  • Dell Storage Specialist Certification or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud hosting providers (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong skills in strategic thinking, time management, multi-tasking, and execution to defined schedules.
  • Experience leading teams supporting federal IT environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with both technical staff and federal executives.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $200,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington DC Metro area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
