Financial Underwriter The Impact You Will Have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Financial Underwriter in Eagan, MN. This position is responsible for reviewing, preparing and analyzing risk for renewals, proposals, financial agreements and benefit changes. The underwriter is responsible for negotiation with sales or account management for final price and product configuration, support, documentation and communication of the same. Your Responsibilities Analyzes and evaluates existing and new business standard and moderate risk for all funding types. Completes financial analysis and settlements for self insured groups. Provides communication to internal and external customers expressing complex concepts in understandable terms. Develops and maintains documentation on underwriting processes and systems. Assists Senior Underwriter and Underwriting Consultants as requested. Completes special projects assigned by management. Keeps abreast of current underwriting practices, rating tools, industry changes and federal and state healthcare reform mandates. Provides training and work direction to lower level underwriters. Senior Financial Underwriter The Impact You Will Have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Senior Financial Underwriter in Eagan, MN. TheSenior Financial Underwriteris responsible for reviewing, preparing, and analyzing risk for renewals, proposals, financial agreements, settlements, and benefit changes. This role involves negotiating final pricing and product configurations with Sales and Account Management and providing clear documentation and rationale to support decisions. You'll work across bothfully insured and self-insuredsegments, with a strong emphasis onpharmacy pricing,carve-in/carve-out strategies, andstop-loss evaluations. The position requires strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to consult across the organization on complex underwriting scenarios. The ideal candidate is aproven healthcare underwriterwith at leastfive years of experiencein bothfully insured and self-insuredenvironments. They bring expertise inpharmacy pricing,stop-loss strategies, and analyzing complex data to build competitive proposals. Comfortable with high-volume cases and carrier reports, they can quickly step in and contribute. Senior Financial Underwriter Required Skills and Experiences 5+ years of related (Financial Underwriting) professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. Comprehensive knowledge of health insurance industry, competitive environment, underwriting guidelines, principles of risk selection, funding types and contractual agreements. Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe and Access. Advanced analytic and interpretive skills with well developed problem solving ability. Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong relationship building skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with presentation experience. Demonstrated negotiating and collaborating ability. High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Skills and Experiences Bachelor's degree Proven experience with self-insured Underwriting is strongly preferred Familiar with pharmaceutical guarantees and pricing Healthcare experience Financial Underwriter Required Skills and Experience 3+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. Working knowledge of underwriting guidelines and risk selection. Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe and Access. Advanced analytical and interpretive skills, with well developed problem solving ability. Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment, ability to represent department on cross functional work groups. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree. Experience with healthcare underwriting preferred. Healthcare experience Compensation and Benefits: Pay Range: Financial Underwriter - $60,000 - $77,600 - $95,200 Senior Financial Underwriter - $77,200 - $102,300 - $127,400 Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
