What We're Looking For:

If you are experienced in site installation, equipment maintenance, and vendor support within the telecommunications or satellite communications industry and have 2+ years of relevant experience, then you will be excited about the Site Engineer II opening with Iridium supporting a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Site Engineer II, you'll autonomously complete tasks as they relate to supporting global site installations, equipment maintenance, and on-site vendor and contractor oversight. In this role, you will focus primarily on coordinating and supporting on-site activities, ensuring adherence to installation standards, supporting integration efforts, and carrying out maintenance tasks at both domestic and international locations. You will thrive in this role if you are a highly motivated self-starter who excels in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and consistently maintains a safe and compliant work environment.

This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You'll Do:
    Perform routine site maintenance and support on-site activities to ensure optimal performance and minimal service interruptions
  • Observe work being performed by vendors and contractors, and provide accurate reporting on completed tasks, material usage, and any identified shortages
  • Ensure a safe working environment by actively monitoring site conditions, enforcing safety policies, and reporting all incidents to management
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance activities, including changing and cleaning filters, recording equipment readings, cleaning systems, and testing functionality to maintain operational readiness
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and craft solutions to resolve problems at global sites
  • Apply technical knowledge of antenna systems, UPS units, generators, and site equipment to support installation, integration, and maintenance activities
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams and external partners to meet mission needs and deliver successful outcomes
  • Adapt to evolving mission requirements, quickly learn new equipment and processes, and continuously improve technical proficiency to support operational objectives
What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in the telecommunications or satellite communications industry
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
  • Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
  • Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
  • Experience with satellite network installation
  • Experience with Data Center installation
We'll also need you to:
  • Be able to travel up to 50%
  • When not traveling, be able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for multiple hours, and climb short ladders
  • This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of Iridium's U.S. government contracts, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens.
Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
