Job Title: Seasonal Kettle & Volunteer Coordinator

FLSA Status: Temporary, Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Corps Officers

Schedule: Varies, Full Time Monday-Saturday
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $18/hour

Closing Date: 10/03/2025

Function

This position is for a Seasonal Kettle & Volunteer Coordinator for 2025 Christmas season (Oct 1-December 30). The main function of the seasonal Kettle and Volunteer Coordinator is to provide leadership and organization to the entire Red Kettle fundraising campaign. This includes coordinating the hiring of seasonal workers, scheduling work shifts for Bell Ringers, Kettle Drivers, and volunteers, and maintaining a great working relationship with store managers.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Monitor and adjust as needed a weekly Bell Ringers shift schedule and another schedule for Kettle Drivers work shifts. Ensure that no one works overtime unless authorized by Corps Officer.
  • Communicate all work schedules to seasonal employees by distributing printed copies. Communicate real-time changes in schedules to Corps Officers & Drivers.
  • Seek and organize volunteers in the community. That can be within service clubs, private offices, schools, etc. Be able to communicate the need for and importance of volunteering.
  • Meet daily with Kettle Drivers to address route schedules, vehicle assignments, and equipment needs. This may include Angel Tree pick up information.
  • Monitor and answer the Kettle phone daily to maintain up-to-date communication with seasonal employees.
  • Coordinate other staff and volunteers to cover the Kettle phone while attending to other duties.
  • Meet with Corps Officer regularly to discuss the progress of campaign and any concerns that may arise.
  • Input employee hours worked into Register-2-Ring daily and ensure that all paid time reports are submitted to payroll according to stated payroll due dates/times.
  • Communicate regularly with all volunteers and companies to confirm volunteer assignments and adjust the Master Kettle Worker Schedule as needed.
  • Direct Kettle Drivers to maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness and maintain all equipment.
  • Be ready to collect Kettles or Angel Tree Items at any time or supply Kettle items or Angel Tree tags.
  • Be willing to meet volunteers at assigned Kettles, to welcome them and make sure they are comfortable.
  • Complete an Inventory and Condition Report of all Red Kettle Campaign equipment and resources at the end of the season. Ensure that all equipment is accounted for and stored in the appropriate location.
  • Help organize angel tree set up, tear down, collection and distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Minimum High School Diploma

    • Ability to motivate and encourage staff and volunteers


  • Driving

    • If the position requires driving:

      • A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
      • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.


    • Background Check

      • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
