Key Position Details:

We are seeking a Senior Manager (Manager II) to lead operations at our Mounds View Ambulance Base. This leadership role oversees a team of four supervisors and is responsible for managing all aspects of interfacility non-emergent transportation, including:

  • Hospital-to-hospital transfers
  • Hospital discharges by ambulance
  • Critical care transport
  • Wheelchair transport
  • Other specialized non-emergent services

As part of the leadership team, the Senior Manager participates in a rotational Administrator on Call schedule, providing remote oversight of system-wide operations every 6th weekend. This commitment typically requires 4-6 hours of remote work.

Additional key qualifications include proven experience project management, change management and being business minded. As well as the ability to work with executive level leaders on large scale projects.

  • Full time position (80 hours every two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour, day / evening shifts
  • Occasional weekends

Job Description:

Oversees department operations by defining, establishing, and implementing employee and department standards, setting department goals and objectives, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, protocols and governing organizations. Responsible for operations and employees to include hiring and onboarding, education and development and performance management. Establishes and maintains relationships with community leaders, internal and external corporate stakeholders.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Supports department operations.
    • Defines and establishes employee and department standards of performance.
    • Assists in the development of the department strategic and financial plan, proposed annual budget, and maintains accountability for the financial performance plan.
    • Identifies and implements department goals and objectives, process management, and quality improvement.
    • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with public service agencies, health care agencies, and the general population.
    • Ensures employee compliance with standing orders, organizational standards, licensure requirements, and regulatory agency requirements.
    • Documents and investigates complaints, policy violations, and other incidents.
  • Coordinates day-to-day support for employees and the department.
    • Responsible for hiring and onboarding, education and development and performance management.
    • Coordinates and oversees equipment, vehicle and base specifications, and negotiations of equipment and building lease contracts.
    • Maintains quality standards and effective utilization of vehicles, personnel, and other resources.
  • Coordinates and manages community and corporate relationships.
    • Works with community public safety leaders.
    • Maintains relationships and works with corporate internal and external stakeholders.
    • Understands pre-hospital and public safety needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services, or related field
  • 3 to 7 years experience as a paramedic
  • 3 to 7 years progressive leadership experience
  • For external hires, passing of Fitness for Duty testing is required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Paramedic - Office of EMS required if working in MN
  • Certified Paramedic - WI Emergency Medical Services required if working in WI
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
  • FEMA100-Intro to Incident Command System - FEMA Management institute required upon hire
  • FEMA200-ICS Single Res-Initial Action - FEMA Management institute required upon hire
  • FEMA300-Interm ICS for Expanding Inc - FEMA Management institute required upon hire
  • FEMA700-Natl Inc Mgmt System-Intro - FEMA Management institute required upon hire
  • FEMA800-Natl Response Framework-Intro - FEMA Management institute required upon hire
  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment

Pay Range

Pay Range: $45.40 to $62.82 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
