General Summary of Position We are actively recruiting for an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join our team at MedStar Medical Group as a Pharmacy Informaticist. While this position can work primarily remotely, candidates must be local for occasional onsite activities and must be licensed in either Maryland or Washington, DC. Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for pharmacy informatics, supporting the vision and strategic goals of MedStar Health. With a specialized focus on Oncology pharmacy and medication management throughout the continuum of care, the Pharmacy Informaticist is responsible for assisting in the operation and administration of clinical information systems, collaborating with clinical associates to enhance their workflow methodology and tools. Maintains a patient-centric and end-user centric focus when contributing to the system; analysis, testing, documentation, education, implementation and support activities to enhance technology adoption and efficiencies to improve patient safety. Is accountable for activities associated with the implementation, management, and maintenance of new and existing Pharmacy related software products and the educational needs associated with the use of all such products. Assists with vendor software system installations and help to ensure that all user needs, priorities, interfaces, and changes are addressed and that system-wide Information Technology standards are adhered to. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develops effective and measurable training and education programs to ensure the consistent, safe and efficient use of departmental IT systems.Develops, implements and maintains effective and reliable downtime processes / procedures (including backup/data loss prevention).Evaluates the literature for new technologies and/or successful informatics practices that have been demonstrated to enhance efficiency and safety in other organizations.Liaison with clinical informatics team to ensure integration of pharmacy systems with other hospital based systems.Manages day-to-day project assignments. Monitors and, as necessary, corrects performance of all project participants (including MedStar staff, consultants, and vendors) during the implementation phase of pharmacy, medication management, and CPOE system information systems and other pharmacy operational initiatives.Participates in development and implementation of strategies to integrate pharmaceutical care activities using information technology.Prepares and participates in company presentations, in-services, facilities tours, etc., for internal and external customers and regulatory agencies to promote pharmacy and medication use information system optimization though out the MedStar system.Provides expertise and guidance to IS in the management of pharmacy and medication use databases, interfaces, master files and tables.Represents corporate IS on hospital and system initiative committees to facilitate project completion and where participation will serve to benefit committee goals/outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required
- PharmD preferred
Experience
- 5-7 years as a pharmacist with progressively more responsibility and complex experience implementing and supporting pharmacy, medication use and/or other clinical information systems required
- 3-4 years Experience in pharmacy informatics (pharmacy workflow, automation, and pharmacy related clinical applications, cdss experience or clinical informatics certification) required
- 1-2 years Cerner pharmnet/CPOE build experience; 1+ year(s) of recent clinical oncology pharmacy experience strongly preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Maryland or DC Pharmacist license required
- Clinical Informatics certification preferred

- Ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships and facilitation skills a must.
- Demonstrated expertise in both written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Basic understanding of acute, non acute and ambulatory care pharmacy operations and ability to apply this knowledge in analyzing system and operational requirements.
- Ability to delegate, track, monitor, and provide knowledge transfers.
- Demonstrated successful vendor and customer relationships and project management skills.
This position has a hiring range of $120,702 - $238,222
