Description
Summary Operates sheet metal fabrication equipment including shear, press, punch, saws, and drills to process sheet metal, metal roofing panels, plate, and potentially steel tube. Performs tack welding of nuts and bolts onto steel plates as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
 
 
   
  - Reads and interprets fabrication prints or job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
 - Sets up or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or template
 - Positions workpiece against stop or aligns layout marks with die or blade
 - Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as saws, drill, mill and punch to, cut, bend, block, and form or straighten materials
 - Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions
 - Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
 - Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or workpieces
 - Maintains clean workspace
 - Scans job worked time into data collection system
 - Perform other related duties as required

  - High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
 - 1-3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education or experience

  - Ability to get a Forklift Operator's License

 - Use and read a tape measure
