Cape Fox Cultural Foundation (CFCF) is seeking an experienced Artist/Carver and Demonstrator. The Artist/Carver and Demonstrator is responsible for creating, preserving, and sharing Tlingit art traditions through hands-on demonstrations, community workshops, and cultural education programs. This role supports the Cape Fox Cultural Foundation's mission by producing high-quality cultural works, engaging community members and visitors, and ensuring cultural authenticity in artistic expression. * Create, carve, paint, and produce Tlingit artwork, including wood carvings, totem poles, regalia, and traditional crafts. * Conduct live demonstrations for community members, students, and visitors. * Share the cultural significance of artistic practices during events and workshops. Cultural Education & Community Engagement * Provide hands-on instruction in carving and other traditional arts to youth and community participants. * Collaborate with Elders, cultural leaders, and other artists to maintain cultural authenticity. * Participate in community events, celebrations, and cultural gatherings. Program Support & Accountability * Assist with planning, setup and execution of cultural exhibits, workshops, and demonstrations. * Document artistic processes and assist in reporting on program outcomes. * Document outreach activities and submit monthly progress summaries. * Support grant-funded cultural initiatives through active participation and artistic contributions. * Participate in monthly check-in meetings to review accomplishments, challenges and upcoming goals. Cross-Functional Collaboration * Work with Cultural Ambassadors and other CFCF staff to integrate art and carving into broader cultural programming. * Provide input on cultural and historical accuracy in CFCF initiatives.* Participate in organizational discussions about cultural preservation and program development. |
