Daikin Applied is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to provide process support and improvement for compressor manufacturing.  - Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support production and the management team, collaborate on process improvement, and contribute to continuous improvement/cost reduction efforts with minimal supervision or under the guidance of other Manufacturing Engineers
 - Perform time studies to identify potential process improvement, apply the theory of constraints to identify bottlenecks, and optimize work content for improved line flow
 - Analyze operational data to optimize equipment and workspace layout, following lean manufacturing principles and utilizing the PDCA process to evaluate process changes for performance improvement recommendations
 - Recommend methods for improving worker effectiveness, safety, quality, and cost reduction: this may involve restructuring job duties, optimizing workflow based on Daikin Production System principles, relocating workstations and equipment, and considering new equipment purchases
 - Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to create work instructions, training checklists, and training matrices; partner with the Safety Manager to establish safe procedures and enhance ergonomics in the manufacturing process
 - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability in new product development and create production process guidelines, measurement parameters
 - Collaborate on equipment/tool design for production processes and facilitate equipment procurement through quotes/bids
 - Support other manufacturing engineers with capital investment projects and possibly manage small capital projects (including the creation of funding requests)
 - Assist with the evaluation of hourly employee's job skill knowledge (JSK) requirements
 - Become skilled in the use of tools in the lean toolbox (e.g., root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, 5S, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications: 
 - 4-year bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial technology, industrial manufacturing engineering, or equivalent technical, scientific, or engineering degree
 - 0-2 years related experience
 - Knowledge of Solidworks, AutoCAD, 2D, MS Office and MS Project preferred

 - The typical salary for this position ranges from $62,000-$97,600in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
