Production Technician Coffee Manufacturing
 TITLE Plant Technician LOCATION New Orleans, LA REPORTS TO Manager of Operations PRIMARY PURPUSE OF THE POSITION Work in a variety of skill areas, in production and packaging, to produce product for the company. Follow all company Safety Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Produce high quality products in a safemanner. 
 - Must be available to work any shift, weekends and overtime as needed and maintain a good attendance record.
 
 
 - Technician must be able to flow to work in all skill areas of production and packaging.
 - Technician must be able to operate a computer to input and review data for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and can work as part of a team and assist others as needed.
 - Technician must be able to meet all the physical demands of the role and any additional duties/task required in a safe manner.
 
 
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The primary functions of this role are to: 
 - Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude is required to be able to read, understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) work environment
 - Perform the necessary movements for the purposes of operating, maintaining, and cleaning high-speed making, packing, shipping, and other production related equipment
 - Perform basic troubleshooting of machinery and process issues, which would include repairs and maintenance activities
 - Capable of supporting changeover processes
 - Use of basic hand and power tools (i.e., wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, drills, grinders, etc.)
 - Capable of using a computer to input and maintain accurate records and data, utilize email and on-line training resources
 - Must be able to analyze information using basic skills in math and statistics
 - Operate essential material handling equipment at the site (i.e., Forklift, Hand Trucks, Clamp Trucks, etc.)
 - Capable to enter Confined Spaces, including tanks and other specialty skill areas
 - Follows all company Safety Practices and personal safety requirements, including using required Personal Protective Equipment
 - The ability to discern the various visual and audible alarms and signals for equipment, start-up, evacuations, fires, etc.
 - Produce high quality products and follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
 - Ability to Problem Solve (Analytical Troubleshooting, Critical Thinking, Root Cause Analysis)
 - Ability to own and drive plant results with leadership skills
 - Must be available to work any shift, weekends and overtime as needed and maintain good attendance record
 - Ability to work as part of a team and assist fellow employees as needed.
 - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out both oral and written instructions.
 
 
SELECTION CRITERIA Education 
 - High-school degree or equivalent, required
 
 
Required Experience & Abilities 
 - Either Two (2) years of technical or manufacturing work experience, required
 
 
OR 
 - Technical education/training certification/degree (mechanical, shop, electrical, computer, CAD design, etc.) or completed a four year college degree, required
 
 
AND 
 - Minimum age of 18, required
 - Willingness to complete each stage of the selection process, required
 
 
Other job requirements 
 - Employee is regularly required to stand and lift.
 - Employee is required to stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time.
 - Employee must be able to work 12 hourshifts.
 - Employees must occasionally lift/push/pull or carry up to fifty (50) pounds, and should be able to lift 30-35 pounds on a frequent basis.
 - Employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis.
 - Employee must be able to climb steps, and work in confined spaces on a regular basis.
 - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMP's and general instructions. Good communication skills are required.
 - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out both oral and written instructions.
 - Employee is required to have a minimum of 20/40 vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses. The applicant must pass a standard eye exam.
 - Employee must have the ability to perform the essential job functions identified above consistent with safety standards and practices with or without a reasonable accommodation.
 - The employee must be able to pass a PFT test.
 - The employee must be able to tolerate exposure to coffee materials.
