General Summary

The Airframe Intern (under 18), under direct supervision, assists experienced technicians with basic, non-hazardous tasks that support the maintenance and repair of airframe systems and components on a variety of airframes. Work is limited to observation and hands-on assistance appropriate for minors in a safe and clean work environment, following manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer requirements.



Essential Job Functions



  1. With direct supervision, assists with basic, non-hazardous tasks that support the inspection, servicing, and maintenance of airframe systems and components on a variety of aircraft. Duties may include organizing tools and parts, cleaning work areas, and observing maintenance activities in a safe, clean, and professional manner.



  1. With supervision, assists with simple troubleshooting and repair support activities that do not involve independent or hazardous work.



  1. With supervision, prepares various documents for record keeping purposes, as required by Company policy and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, W.O. Sheets, personal training log, etc.).



  1. With assistance, locates and uses appropriate technical data and follows verbal instructions when completing assigned learning or support tasks.



  1. Performs other related, non-hazardous duties as assigned by management.


Job Specific Requirements

Licenses/Certificates: Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record; tool inventory per department tool list required

Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance is required

Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting.

Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.



Education and Experience



  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in airframe maintenance secondary education program
