Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 80-years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team.

Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Unit Clerk. This candidate will Monitor safety and security of the medical records on the living unit. Serves as an administrative assistant to the Program Director and the Nurse Manager. Responsible for monitoring compliance with established policies and procedures regarding the medical record process on the living unit.

Qualifications

The following are the job requirements for the Unit Clerk position:

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Understanding of pertinent federal, state, and local regulations governing confidentiality and release of medical records. Familiarity with various types of documentation maintained in a medical, psychiatric, or rehabilitation setting. Basic understanding of medical terminology. Can work independently and productively with little supervision. Good organizational skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. Ability to type (45 wpm) and use computer software programs preferred.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED. Software training in most current versions of word-processing programs and spreadsheets. Accreditation Records Technician (ART or eligible) by the American Health Information Management Associations or degree in Business Administration or Management preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: None Required.

Experience: Minimum of five years' experience in a healthcare setting with responsibilities in the quality assessment and improvement activities.

PHYSICAL/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift/lower up to 50 pounds in order to transport medical records or supplies across hospital grounds. Ability to see, speak, and hear so as to effectively communicate with staff, patients, and others in order to protect self and others from potentially dangerous situations and to perform essential job functions. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential job functions including stressful situations and changing priorities. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to write for extended periods of time. Ability to speak on the telephone for extended periods of time. Ability to traverse hospital grounds via walking and using motorized vehicles in order to attend meetings, obtain supplies, and communicate with other departments.
