Position Summary:

Johns Hopkins Oncology is seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Clinic. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with hematologic malignancies in a multidisciplinary academic setting. The APP will manage patients throughout the continuum of care with follow-up visits, symptom management, and urgent evaluations. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the APP will perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures, and contribute to care coordination, infusion center support, and clinical research initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive outpatient visits for patients with hematologic diagnoses.
  • Perform bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures independently, with intrathecal chemotherapy administration, as clinically indicated
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and pathology reports.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Monitor and manage treatment-related toxicities, symptoms and complications.
  • Support infusion center operations, including pre-treatment assessments and management of infusion reactions.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, medications, and supportive care.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (Epic).
  • Participate in clinical rounds and academic conferences
  • Collaborate with nursing, pharmacy, social work, and administrative staff to optimize patient care and clinic efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Maryland.
  • National certification as an NP (Adult-Gerontology or Family) or PA.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited program.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in hematology/oncology preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, procedural, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.


Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in outpatient hematology/oncology or infusion center settings.
  • Familiarity with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
  • Experience in academic medical centers or large oncology practices.

Salary Range: Minimum 53.15/hour - Maximum 82.38/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
