The Load BalanceEngineer (LBE) is expected to be aSubject Matter Expert (SME).The LBEplays a critical role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise load balancing solutions across data centers and cloud environments. This position ensures the reliable distribution of network traffic, high availability of critical applications, andoptimalperformance for end-users.
The SME serves as a trusted technical advisor to engineering, operations, and security teams, providing deep expertise on load balancing platforms, application delivery controllers (ADCs), and related technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
>Design and architect scalable, secure, andhighly availableload balancing solutions to support enterprise applications and infrastructure.
>Develop standards, best practices, and reference architectures for load balancing and traffic management.
>Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements or migrations to meet performance and security goals.
Implementation & Configuration
>Deploy, configure, andmaintainload balancers such as F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), A10, or NGINX.
>Implement advanced load balancing features, including SSL offloading, content switching, application acceleration, and global server load balancing (GSLB).
>Integrate load balancing solutions with automation, orchestration, and monitoring platforms.
Operational Support
>Troubleshoot complex Layer 4-7 traffic issues and provide escalation support to operations teams.
>Perform capacity planning, system health checks, and performance tuning.
>Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and network diagrams.
Security & Compliance
>Ensure adherence to corporate security standards and compliance requirements.
>Manage SSL/TLS certificates, secure application publishing, and traffic encryption.
>Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement WAF (Web Application Firewall) and DDoS protection features.
Collaboration & Leadership
>Serve as the subject matter expert for cross-functional projects involving application delivery and traffic management.
>Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior engineers and stakeholders.
>Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
>7+ years of experience in network engineering, application delivery, or related disciplines.
>Deep technicalexpertisewith one or more enterprise load balancing technologies (e.g., F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC/NetScaler, A10, NGINX, Avi Networks, AWS ELB/ALB/NLB, or Azure Load Balancer).
>Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS, and Layer 4-7 traffic flows.
>Experience with automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell).
>Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid deployment models.
>Proven ability to troubleshoot complex networking and application delivery issues.
Preferred Qualifications
>Professional certifications such as F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Citrix Certified Professional (CCP-N), or CCNP.
>Experience implementing Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) and API Gateways.
>Knowledge of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and modern application delivery concepts.
>Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
