The Labor Estimating Engineer is responsible for developing accurate, data-driven labor estimates and production standards for new and follow-on business proposals. This position plays a key role in supporting Business Development and Program Management by converting engineering, manufacturing, and historical data into costed labor projections that drive company pricing strategies. Strong analytical capability, cross-functional collaboration, and presentation skills are essential. Develop detailed labor estimates for new and recurring business RFQs, including Basis of Estimates (BOE) that are FAR/DFAR compliant Build and maintain cost models and quoting templates within Excel and Plex ERP to standardize labor, Engineering Hours, and tooling estimates Analyze historical actuals via Cyberquery reports or other reporting tools like Power BI to validate assumptions and refine production standards Define manufacturing process flows and routers for new production introductions (NPIs) Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations to ensure estimates reflect realistic factory capability and capacity Present estimates to management for internal review and approval Prepare labor inputs for DCMA and customer audits on BOEs Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by integrating Lean principles and time study results into standard work Support data visualization and trend analysis through Power BI dashboards and performance metrics Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field Experience in labor estimating, cost analysis, or manufacturing engineering (electronics industry preferred) Proficiency with Excel-based modeling, familiarity with Power BI, Plex ERP, and Cyberquery strongly desired Ability to interpret customer technical documentation such as statements of work (SOWs), assembly drawings, and build of materials (BOMs) Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with cross-departmental collaboration experience Knowledge of electronic circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and manufacturing processes Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies Sypris Electronics, LLC provides goods and services to the U.S. Government and other prime contractors and is obligated by its contracts with those entities, as well as by various federal laws and regulations regarding security and export control, to restrict access to certain goods, services, and/or any related information.
