Who we are and what we do:

The Department of Transportation Centralized Accounting group (TDOT-CA) operates within the Division of Accounts under the Department of Finance and Administration. TDOT-CA manages multiple aspects of accounting for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Our responsibilities include contract and accounts payable, employee expense claims, asset accounting, account receivable and billing, and general ledger management.

How you make a difference in this role:

We are seeking a candidate of high integrity and strong ethical standards to serve as Fiscal Director 2. In this leadership role, you will oversee key accounting functions for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, working closely with TDOT Finance to ensure accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with federal and state requirements. This position is based in Nashville, TN, and follows a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and develop accounting teams responsible for general ledger, receivables, and asset management.

2. Oversee federal and state billing processes.

3. Manage revenue recognition, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure financial accuracy.

4. Supervisor deposit processing, interagency billing, and third-party accounting activities.

5. Support audits, federal reporting (including SEFA), and year-end close procedures.

6. Contribute to process improvements and internal controls through Enterprise Risk Management initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time professional fiscal services and/or auditing work including, at least, two years of experience in the supervision of fiscal and/or auditing staff.
