Summary of Job Duties:*Set up and break down of event areas, including arranging tables, chairs, table linens, china, silverware, and glassware according to event plan or as instructed by events coordinator.

*Assist in preparation and coordination of menus for catering of events on all campus locations.

*Ensures all food served is of high quality, properly prepared according to recipe and is expedited to all outlets in an efficient manner.

*Transportation of catering equipment and food to event locations.

*Collaborate with the event coordinator to understand the specifics of the event, including guest count, meal courses, and service timing.

*Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety.

*Be available to work night and weekend shifts involving a flexible work schedule to accommodate events.

*Works with director to maintain inventory levels of catering supplies, decorations, linens and service wares.

*Maintains a clean workstation throughout shift; assists in maintaining a clean and orderly front of house.

*Oversee laundering and maintenance of linens and ensure service equipment is maintained, polished and properly stored.

*Maintains a positive attitude in the execution of duties and provide exceptional customer service.

*Displays a high level of commitment to the team and to the job to ensure events are executed in a professional and timely manner.

*Performs other duties as assigned to include all areas of the restaurants, catering storage areas, loading dock area, exterior of restaurant, etc.

*Must possess professional verbal and written communication skills, be organized and detail oriented, be flexible and adapt to change

*Coordinates with Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, CHARTS, and other functional areas to provide full service hospitality and post event cleaning.

*Assist the Director in all ways necessary to grow and maintain the reputation of CAHMI and UA-PTC by promoting the goals of the school both internally and externally.

*Promote the mission of University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College.

*Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions and recipes.

  • At least one year of experience in catering, hotel, country club or a restaurant kitchen/front-of-house setting, or a certificate in food preparation from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs. without assistance and to stand for extended periods or for an entire work shift.

  • Ability to safely operate a cargo van for deliveries and equipment transport between campuses (valid driver's license required) and maintain appropriate documentation logs.

  • Understanding and commitment to equal access and equal opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in culinary arts, baking or hospitality management from a regionally accredited institution

  • Two to three years of experience in catering setup or kitchen operations.

  • Current ServSafe certification.
