Helpdesk Technician

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking a full-time Helpdesk Technician. The selected candidate will assist all staff and respond to computer software, hardware and network-related issues. In addition, manage the helpdesk ticket system via phone, e-mail and in person. This candidate must also provide excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • Identify, research and resolve technical issues including but not limited to PCs, phone, voicemail and electronic key cards and readers.
  • Resolve end user technical issues.
  • Install, maintain, configure and upgrade PC software.
  • Resolve application and hardware issues.
  • Participate in workstation installation, moves, additions and changes; build and configure PCs.
  • Configure printers and copiers and establish local or network connections.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity.
  • Provide support for remote technologies.
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets via phone, e-mail or in person.
  • Maintain asset tracking.
  • Public Health Emergency Response Responsibilities: All District employees must be able to respond to public health emergencies when needed and appropriate. During an emergency response, employee may be assigned to a role in either operations, logistics, or administration by the Incident Commander and/or Section Chief in addition to regular duties.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Requirements and Qualifications


  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a computer-related field plus two (2) years of experience, or equivalent work experience in a helpdesk or desktop support position.

The expected annual starting salary is $47,170. Full annual salary range for a Class 5 IT Helpdesk Technician is $47,170 - $63,679 for a 40-hour week.
