The New Hanover County Senior Resource Center is seeking a part time Operations Program Assistant. This role supports daily operations and activities at the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center. This front-line customer service role assists with activity room setup, provides front desk assistance, ensures smooth facility operations, and contributes to a welcoming and safe environment for participants. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative, community-focused setting. Essential Duties include:
- Provide front desk coverage, including greeting visitors, phone support, and assisting participants with general needs.
- Conduct facility tours for recreation participants and assist with participant onboarding.
- Responsible for the daily room setup and break down for meetings, programs, and special events.
- Assist with the execution of Recreation programing and special events.
- Monitor the facility to identify and report operational or safety concerns. Occasionally, serve as a point of contact for vendors and NHC Facilities Management to address issues on-site.
- Maintain organization in shared spaces, including storage areas, meeting rooms, and other recreation spaces.
- Provide general support to the Recreation, Life Enrichment, Transportation, Community Engagement, and Nutrition divisions as needed.
- Perform occasional data entry and administrative tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Moderate computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to learn new software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and willingness to take initiative.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Previous experience in recreation, hospitality, or customer service is preferred.

Schedule:
Up to 19 hours per week, Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Work hours may vary based on program and event needs, and may include occasional Thursday evenings and flexible hours on holiday weeks.
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
Typical work schedule will be:
* Monday (6 hrs.): 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Lunch 12:00 - 12:30)
* Tuesday (3 hrs.): 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
* Thursday (3 hrs.): 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. * Friday (6 hrs.): 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Lunch 12:00 - 12:30)
Employment Type: Part time, non-exempt
Salary Information:
The starting salary for this position is $17.4639/hour. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications
-
Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and two years of experience related to the program area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licenses/Certifications

- Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
