Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing and maintaining the Trauma Injury Prevention Program. Creates and implements a strategic plan for the Injury Prevention Program according to regulatory agency guidelines. Understands and utilizes research, trauma registry data, injury prevention outreach initiatives, and current injury prevention practices for local and regional injury prevention activities. Maintains trauma injury data and utilizes results for injury prevention, performance improvement, and research initiatives. Provides leadership and collaborates services for performance improvement activities, and assists with compliance activities for all regulatory agencies. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of 1 (one) year in acute care experience required with 1 year in a hospital setting preferred.

2. Experienced in leadership teaching, public speaking preferred.

3. Advanced computer skills to include programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point and Marketing programs for development of community and patient educational materials.

4. Must be able to facilitate focus groups and display interpersonal and presentation skills. Must have creative skills and the ability to generate new ideas.

5. Hours are flexible but must be able to work in a high pressure environment subject to multiple and changing priorities and demands.

6. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

1. Diploma, Associates in Nursing, Bachelors preferred or Bachelors in Social Work, Public Health or other Health related degrees.

2. If a Social Worker, you must be licensed in the State of Texas (LBSW; LBSW-ACP or LMSW; LCSW)

3. If a Registered Nurse, you must be currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent one.

4. RN will have BLS, ACLS, TNCC and PALS and/or ENPC upon hire or within 12 months of hire at director's discretion (and maintain through employment) Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program.

5. Have upon hire or successfully complete the American Trauma Society (ATS) Injury Prevention Coordinators Course and a Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Course or other equivalent course approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Trauma Program Director within twelve (12) months of hire, or as class availability permits at the director's discretion.
