Job Description

Job Summary:


Under the direct supervision of the Production Manager, the Test Technician performs manual work pertaining to testing and troubleshooting our company products. This employee is responsible for debugging all products, troubleshooting issues, performing repairs and final testing of our products.



Job Functions:


Essential:



  • Performs initial tests upon receiving electronic assemblies from sub-assembly by utilizing appropriate established test procedures.
  • Solder inspection of assemblies. (Familiarity with IPC 610 is desirable)
  • Troubleshoots electronic assemblies to the component level, replacing components as required.
  • Generates problem reports on tested assemblies when necessary and works with Engineering for problem resolution.
  • Communicates assembly issues by providing written documentation to relevant assemblers.
  • Creates suggestions on how to correct a problem with an assembly and provides guidance to assemblers.
  • Ensures test and all equipment is kept within calibration requirements.
  • Reads manufacturing documentation such as blueprints, process sheets and assembly and schematic drawings, receives verbal instructions regarding work assignment, and follows instructions.
  • Enters test information on logs, other report forms, and computer files.
  • Measures parts to ensure they are within the established requirements.
  • Label products that pass inspection by using company procedures and forwards product to shipping/receiving department for delivery.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all products and the Quality Assurance System.
  • Performs work within safety requirements/procedures.
  • Communicates information and responds to questions from groups or managers and employees.
  • Will be responsible for the safe use of department equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others using both oral and written communication skills.




Marginal:



  • Provide assistance on the production floor with final assembly of products as deemed necessary or as required.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.
  • May need to Reassemble product after troubleshooting is completed.


Requirements

Job Qualifications:



  • At least one year in electronic test or related field is preferred. In this position it is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.
  • Associate degree or technical school certification in electronics is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Soldering certification preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate soldering skills (including SMT and through hole).
  • Ability to read engineering blueprints and schematics and interpret engineering documentation.
  • Must have knowledge of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters and miscellaneous test equipment.
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot component level electronics.
  • General computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred.
  • Has the ability to touch/feel and be able to work with very small parts.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot product issues and make frequent decisions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work independently at times and have close contact with other employees and departments.
  • Must be able to work overtime including weekends as needed or as required.



Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, employees can be exposed to loud noise occasionally when in sound room but are provided with hearing protection when exposed to loud noises. Employees could be exposed to fumes when in coating room.



Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to test our products. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time.
