As a Senior Accountant within our Regulatory Finance - Accounting and Reporting division, your role will include the following.

This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Accounting

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the work of others. Monitor compliance with key controls and standard accounting and reporting practices and procedures
  • Manage the preparation and perform the review of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, changes in capital and surplus, statements of cash flow, and supplemental financial exhibits pursuant to Statutory Accounting Principles, which are based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Research, analyze and resolve accounting issues by researching activity and guidance, proposing solutions and communicating with stakeholders
  • Manage the preparation and perform the review of supplements to statutory filings, and other state supplemental filings
  • Review prepared documentation in support of external and internal audits

Financial Analysis

  • Review and analyze business and financial metrics, on a forecasted and reported basis, for assigned legal entities throughout the year by working closely with the internal stakeholders
  • Review quarterly premium deficiency reserve models and supporting exhibits

Team Leadership

  • Develop and engage a team of Early Career personnel with direct and indirect reporting relationships through continuous mentoring and coaching
  • Support recruitment activities by participating in Early Career events

Additional responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:

  • Review drafted responses to regulator inquiries and support Department of Insurance examinations
  • Participate on a project team to develop and implement innovative approaches in department process and execute on projects for continued improvement by managing the related initiatives
  • Lead conversations with internal stakeholders to present results, clarify forecasts, conduct research, and complete projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent
  • 1+ years of accounting and/or finance experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated technical and functional skills necessary to prepare, review and analyze financial statements
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet multiple hard deadlines
  • Demonstrated drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis
  • Demonstrated solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial statement preparation and/or audit
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Experience with Hyperion SmartView and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Health care experience
  • Understanding of SAP and accounting for regulated entities
  • Assess and interpret customer needs and requirements
  • Collaborate with peers to share best practices and complete projects

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $58,800 to $105,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
