Endoscopy Technician

As an Endoscopy Technician, you will play an essential role in assisting physicians and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, preparing procedure rooms and specialized equipment, and helping ensure every patient receives safe, efficient, and compassionate care. A typical day for an Endoscopy Technician may include:
  • Preparing procedure rooms by ensuring endoscopic equipment, instruments, and supplies are clean, organized, properly functioning, and readily available for scheduled procedures
  • Assisting physicians and registered nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures by providing skilled technical support and anticipating procedural needs
  • Maintaining flexible endoscopes through proper cleaning, high-level disinfection, and reprocessing while adhering to regulatory requirements and infection prevention standards
  • Maintaining procedure rooms and reprocessing areas in a clean, safe, and adequately stocked condition to support efficient workflow
  • Providing direct patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision of the registered nurse and/or physician while promoting patient comfort, dignity, and safety
  • Accurately collecting, labeling, and transporting specimens according to organizational policies and procedural requirements
  • Monitoring equipment performance and promptly reporting equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Registered Nurse or Assistant Director
  • Recognizing and reporting patient complaints, changes in condition, unusual signs or symptoms, and other concerns immediately to the registered nurse
  • Demonstrating knowledge of isolation precautions, latex allergies, and infection prevention practices to support a safe care environment
  • Answering telephone calls promptly and professionally while supporting communication and coordination among patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, ongoing education, and professional development while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards

To be considered for this Endoscopy Technician opportunity, you are passionate about supporting safe, high-quality patient care through technical expertise and collaborative teamwork. You are a high school graduate or have obtained a high school equivalency diploma and have at least one year of healthcare experience. Successful completion of an Endoscopic or Surgical Technologist program offered within the health system is required, with certification obtained within the first year of hire. Preferred qualifications include completion of an Endoscopic or Surgical Technologist program, at least one year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician in a hospital or freestanding endoscopy center, certification in flexible endoscope reprocessing, and previous healthcare experience. You possess strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, are able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality care, and professional practice while contributing to a collaborative endoscopy team.
