Hourly Pay Range:

Accountant Senior

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant under the guidance of the Controller will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly financial statements (Board Package) and analysis for Endeavor Health. Perform routine and specialized accounting duties; record transactions and complete account reconciliations to ensure appropriate documentation and verification of assets and liabilities. Prepare and compile statements for related entities as assigned (e.g., Medical Group, Foundation, Captive Insurance, and Fitness Center). Support annual financial audit and IRS 990 submission; assist in annual budget and other finance projects. Comply with fiscal policies and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial transactions and reports.

What you will do:

  • Primary responsibility is to prepare monthly financial statements package and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.
  • Facilitate and compete monthly close procedures.
  • Analyzes complex accounting transactions; applies GAAP knowledge to the accounting for same.
  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
  • Complete journal entries and account reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation within the designated timeframe.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting in response to internal customer requests.
  • Support annual financial audit, and prepare yearly audit schedules; gather appropriate information for tax reporting on an annual basis.
  • Assists Accounting Manager with daily supervision and training of Staff Accountant and Clerical staff.
  • Initiate wire transfers as necessary and with approval of Finance Management.
  • Responsible for DAC Quarterly reporting.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Required
  • Certification: n/a
  • Experience: 5+ years Finance/accounting or auditing experience, mainly in not-for-profit or healthcare.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
  • Practiced in financial and statistical reporting, working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), healthcare industry standards and internal controls. Demonstrated proficiency with automated financial systems, reporting tools and general ledger applications.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with all levels to perform job duties.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Superior computer skills; proficiency with MS Office to include an advanced skill set with Excel (solid experience with vlookups, pivot tables and formulas required).
  • Experience using Meditech System is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen along with solid quantitative aptitude and analysis skills.
  • Ability to research and resolve problems with minimal supervision; provide solutions accordingly.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining high level of detail.
  • Must be able to streamline work and maximize efficiencies.
  • Must be available to work additional hours to ensure business needs are met (i.e. month end close).
